"Be open to change, rather than stuck in old-school mentality and processes."

"The company treated its employees well. There was a good working enviroment. If you worked hard and were qualified you got considered for advancement."

"Be professional and honest. Make sure you are qualified for position. If available take a lesser position. The position you want or abetter one may open up and they promote from within first."

"There is not much I did ont like about This company. I guess the fact that I got laid off. Thjey did away witrh a lot of the incentives they gave for working hard."

"Go back to the reward plans that were there when I first worked there."

"Always ensure that you are well covered on all the points that you have mentioned in your resume. I have interviewed many people who usually came up short while defending their own resume."

"The decision making process at the Motorola can needs to be improved. The company has lost great market opportunities in past because of slow decision making process."

"Motorola has recently got a new CEO and it is still too early to evaluate him, but things seem to getting on the right track under his leadership."

"Good pay, great reputation, great benefits, good medical benefits, worked remotely 100% of the time, great workshops and training."

"It is a very good company to work for but it is very hard to get hired. Must know someone from the inside to help you."

"Basically since I was 100% remote I had to be available 100% of the time. Which was normally not a problem because it would allow me to manage my own time."

"I guess management was great, they were clear about everything and most of the time they would only contact you when something urgent was needed, other than that they would let you work."

"They seems to hire 'experts' in an area and not generalists. They do encourage a world view because they are an international company."

"Would like to make changes faster. It takes way too long to implement needed changes. I understand the cost and the need to roll changes out in a controlled manner, but some things take too long."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Keep your most valuable people, not just numbers in an organization when you 'downsize'. Encourage and reward people who have a wide knowledge of the technologies, and use them to help drive the entire org. It seems the 'experts' in their area drive the organization, but they do not understand all the impacts on all other areas of the IT ecosystem."

"Low stress most of the time, help is available, smart people."

"Unstructured, lots of repeating work, bad strategy, people change roles so there is not a lot of consistency."

"Simplify offerings, make systems less complicated, increase cross-team collaboration, raise pay."

"Ensure that your direct team and manager does not buy into the rule by fear but rather is able to stand on sound decision making and is not afraid to do what is best."

"The culture at senior level meetings was rule by fear (cycles of violence and silence) and the ability to plan strategically was limited due to current hot topics taking all the attention and resources."

"Every senior manager must make a pact to change the culture as well as a commitment from the Senior Leader Team, both as individuals and hiring an external group to support this change. (monumental task but it can be done... reinventing their company with the same skill set.) seems even more important now that Google owns Motorola Mobility."

"Innovative environment. Respected as an accomplished leader among staff. Enjoyed ability to invent and execute massive projects with revenue of up to $250million."

"NSN is going through massive layoffs, so there is no hiring at this time."

What don't you like about working at Motorola Solutions?

"Motorola is now owned by Nokia Siemens Networks with a very different attitude toward success and people."

"Use Motorola resources appropriately. NSN purchased Motorola for market share but does not respect the people who created that share."

"The benefits are good and hard work and loyalty are usually rewarded."

"Know someone on the inside. Having a good internal reference will really help someone land a position."

"They are out of touch of where the industry should be going. Their plans for the next step in innovation of the industry seem weak and ill thought out."

"Start focusing settop box efforts in making a box that the consumers want and not what the cable operators have told us that they want. Make the box that the general populace wants and that will drive innovation in the industry."

"Not using people to the best of their abilities. Always saving friends rather then the best skill set in Schamburg."

"We say we are a global company but we are getting rid of people outside of Schamburg IL that are a lot better then the people at the main headquarters."
