What do you like about working at GMP Metal Products?

"I had the opportunity to work with some brilliant people including Nobel Prize winner as well as a culture that emphasized innovation."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Company was a start up that still exist but on a very small level supporting one of the products that we designed. The research and development part of the company is gone."

What don't you like about working at GMP Metal Products?

"Within the engineering group none of them had ever worked with an industrial designer and had a very narrow viewpoint as to what the function was of the job. Some referred to it as artsy fartsy. Was a difficult battle going against the stream in educating them on what an industrial designer was and integrating it into the development process. Spent late nights and weekends demonstrating what an industrial designer was by doing multiple tasks."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Upper management neads to have more of a background in product development and an understanding of what it take to go from concept to production and into the sales force."
