Senior Resource Manager at Motorola Solutions
in Schaumburg, IL

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Large company with lots of room for growth and advancement but subject to large layoffs in economic downturns."

What do you like about working at Motorola Solutions?

"As a large company, was able to work on cutting edge technologies. As well had ample opportunities for growth, both horizontal in terms of other projects, job functions, technology groups as well as vertical with consistent reward and promotion for jobs well done."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Highlight not only technical expertise but also success as team player. Motorola values highly collaborative effort, not just individual contributors."

What don't you like about working at Motorola Solutions?

"Motorola seemed more vulnerable to large layoffs and project re-prioritization due to economic factors. Could hire 20,000 employees in up market and following year lay off 20,000 employees in down market."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Focus more on future technologies and be industry leader rather than reactive to industry trends. Motorola has had reputation in past for innovation and setting industry direction (cell phone, semiconductor chips) but lately seems more reactive to other companies leads."
