What do you like about working at Sikeston Public Schools?

"I love teaching. It is like being able to play school all the time, just like I did when I was a little girl. However, now when I teach, I actually have student I get to work with. It is fun and exciting. Something new and different happens everyday, and no two days are exactly the same. Being a teacher means I have to be flexible and ready to change my lessons if something else comes up and that is what makes teaching challenging and fun and interesting."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Just know that teachers have a lot to offer because of their flexibility."

What don't you like about working at Sikeston Public Schools?

"Right now there is a pay freeze and no way to earn extra money. I am working more hours, but without the pay which is unfair to my family. I also do not like that so many new ideas will be implemented throughout the schoolyear and I am expected to then use them in the classroom after one fifty minute professional development presentation."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Really ask the teachers what they think should be done to improve students' scores. Take their advice seriously and take it under consideration and use it."
