"I've worked for SoftLayer for just under a year currently. I've enjoyed the company quite a bit and am happy with its growth since being purchased by IBM. However, some of the co-workers I deal with on a daily basis make it a hard environment to want to be in."
"I've worked for Softlayer for over 7 years. Back when they where The Planet it was possible that one could make a difference at the company but I think they've gotten a little too big and its gotten to where you only have control over your little sand box and that's it. There are a lot of great and awesome people there, some not so much. I also don't believe Softlayer is a reputable company, I've seen and heard too much that would make me believe otherwise."
"Not a place to build a long career"

What don't you like about working at SoftLayer?
"The unprofessional manner in which the Softlayer Executives held themselves. As former Planet employees they held a grudge against the employees left at the time of the merger. People help VP level positions in departments which they were far from qualified to even be a low level person in. They show no loyalty to their employees and constantly threaten to fire their employees in weekly meetings. Please note that employees are told to lie to customers about services and devices they are paying for."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Please learn what you are doing. Stop putting your friends in positions of power who are obviously not qualified, or your sister. Yes Sam Flietman I'm talking to you. You guys are running a business and if you want it to succeed then you need people who know what they are doing in these positions."
