What do you like about working at St. Elias Specialty Hospital?
"I thoroughly enjoyed working with the CEO - he took me under his wings to mentor and groom me to executive acute care management. His leadership style was incredible and being part of the executive management team was phenomenal. It was rewarding to open a new hospital where none previously existed, allowing us to keep our community home and not transferred to another state for care. I learned a great deal about the regulatory processes required to open and run an acute care hospital. I was the face of the facility and that afforded me to continually educate the medical communities of the Alaskan Region, but also the community at large."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Yes. Be honest and flexible. Be open to learning about a new market share of services and recognize how important it is to follow the chain of command."
What don't you like about working at St. Elias Specialty Hospital?
"There were times when it was a struggle to get the appropriate patient referrals from other acute care hospitals due to the newness of the facility and services we provided."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Continue to value and respect your staff and you will be rewarded beyond comprehension."
