"The companies and organizations I was fortunate to work for (from the Forestry CO-OP program) granted me with a standard salary; as if I was a permanent associate. This was due to the great relations derived from years of positive feedback from UBC forestry students and their respected employers. When applying for positions that weren't through the Forestry CO-OP program, I noticed the work was less fulfilling and I often didn't feel accomplished by the end of the day. On top of this, I was paid $2-3 less, per hour, compared if I were to accept work through the CO-OP program."

"I feel that the postdoc salary is underpaid. The main reason for my assessment is that this position in itself is unstable (contractual), yet full time work, with 40-60 hours per week and high responsibilities and work load (i.e., research, training, teaching, etc.). Comparable full time regular positions with lower educational requirements have significantly higher pay, benefits, and job security."
