"I've been with VA HealthCare Science as of 2019. The process to get into VA is lengthy but once you are in, you have one active, unrestricted state license that allows VA employees to practice in any VA facility nationwide. VA employees can seek employment at a VA facility with an open position and transfer with no loss of benefits."
"Very poor leadership that makes it difficult to do your job correctly."
"I worked in VA Healthcare System for 6 years. It's a good place to work, if you like a slow paced environment. People are nice, management is flexible, great benefits. The work is very slow due to PHI related regulations, that require access approval for everything you need to do and it takes long time."
"politics, and working for a federal agency"
"I love working for the VHA. The position is only a government contract job so its not a permanent guaranteed full-time position. I love my co-workers and I love the facility. Everyone on site is nice and cooperative which allows IT to complete tasks in a reasonable time frame. Like most positions, you can not move to permanent unless there is a job posting to apply to."
"Awesome place. Room for intelligence implementation."
"I worked for the VHA for one year under contract. I came in as a special resource for Azure, Dynamics, and MS PowerPlatform. In addition to the technology stack I’ve worked with for the past 10 years, I also fit their new ML initiatives. With my background in mathematics and experience in data architecture, it was a good place to start their ML program."
"Serving the Veterans through work at the VHA can be very rewarding. There are times when dealing with the bureaucracy of the government is difficult, but overall, being able to serve those who have served our country can be an experience unlike something you find anywhere else."
"The VA program was outstanding. Getting paid to go to school is anyone dream and it allowed me to up-date my skill set. I am only sorry that I did not have enough time to complete my degree program. I am in the process of gaining work so that I can complete my program."
"I was not really working there, instead I have been volunteering there for while while I was in school."
