Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Sincere look back at the pros and cons of USIS employment"

What do you like about working at United States Information Agency?

"Dear CyberCoders,It would be unjust for me to reply either way without an explanation. I served USIS for nearly 5 years and climbed the ranks rather expeditiously. When directly working with good peers and subordinate to a good boss, life was good at USIS. When connected to less desirable peers and subjected to a bad boss, my experiences were of a nature that I would not like to repeat. Like all security services entities, there is good and bad to be had. More times than not, the perception was tremendously impacted by who one reported to and the individual character of that person. The bag is mixed, and I believe this to be true of every corporation to varying degrees. I will say this, most of my experiences with USIS were favorable, and for that I was and remain grateful."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Avoid getting roped into remaining in a stagnant position. Let two years be your max. Then, move up or move out. No one will promote you. You have to fight for the opportunities or watch others prevail."

What don't you like about working at United States Information Agency?

"For a security centric company, the portion of the budget dedicated to security was totally inadequate. Also, the security staff chain of command was blurred and didn't support accountability."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Return to the bona-fide service oriented philosophies upon which USIS (also US Investigations Services) was built. Making the corporate infrastructure anorexic and placing all focus on growth rather than service was a very, very bad move. You lost good people, you alienated long term customers, and you hampered business development. Get back to your core competencies and weed out the profit at any cost fools that have been hanging around like worn out bathroom fixtures for way too long!"
