"The pay is terrible at Sears. They promote unqualified people before promoting from within. Turnover is crazy, so every week it seems like you're training new people, which makes it hard to do your job when you're constantly training someone."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Pay associates more. When associates are happy they are better workers. Devote the time and training to associates who want to move up, and stop hiring people from outside the company over someone who works for you, then turning around and expecting them to train the new person."

"There were occasions where I was restricted in the number of staff. During peak times, my need will vary according to sales and this was not always accounted for."

"Completely understand that in retail we have to have backup plans at high volume times. Marketing plans will draw in customers depending on the campaign, and this needs to be accounted for in staff numbers."

"There seems to be no attempts to keep employees. The motto seems to be, If you don't like it then leave. This is causing many of the great people to quit and go elsewhere."

"I would care more about the happiness of the employees and less about what that numbers say on paper. Yes, making money is important in retail, however, without happy associates you won't have happy customers."
